In Fantasy Canyon of Dinosaur National Monument Park along the Uinta Mountains of Utah on the border of Colorado lie some of the worlds only lithophones. These ancient stones from the Eocene Era 150 million years go, where there was once a Lake Uinta and since then dried and the formation of river sandstone, has left these incredible finger-shaped lithophones that sound magical when struck.
Lithophones is an incredible sample pack made entirely from playing on sandstone lithophones using mallets and brushes by world-renowned Filipino percussionist Susie Ibarra. This pack contains one shots and loops of percussion (chinese opera gong, snare drums, bamboo sticks, metal bells, wood claves, metal from the local Rangely Colorado Junk Yard) played in Dinosaur Monument Echo Cave Canyons with massive natural resonance from the surrounding canyon. A couple keyboard instruments were also designed using Lithophone one shots that mimic a gorgeous mallet.
What will you do with these ancient rock sounds from when the dinosaurs roamed the earth? Delve into this fascinating and amazingly musical pack and create a world of music that will stand the test of time.
