In the wake of the pioneering acts that took the melodic expression and harmonic language of classic folk music and applied it in a rock band setting, waves of new artists came out in the 1960s and on. Since then, the lines between folk, singer-songwriter, indie and Americana have kept blurring, but still – with its basic, to-the-point hooks and unmistakable harmonies – that ever-so distinct folk feel is still as apparent as it ever was.
