Udemy Sound Collection and Music Creation TUTORiAL
TUTORiAL | 1.13 GB
In this practical and creative course, you’ll learn how to listen to your surroundings differently, capture interesting sounds, and transform everyday recordings into music.
You don’t need expensive microphones, specialist equipment or advanced production skills. Your phone and a DAW are enough to get started.
We’ll begin by exploring how to listen for interesting sounds, paying attention to rhythm, texture, distance, repetition and the relationship between foreground and background. You’ll learn how to make useful field recordings and discover musical possibilities in sounds that might otherwise go unnoticed.
From there, we’ll take those recordings into a DAW and explore editing, chopping, looping, layering and arranging them into something new. You’ll also learn some basic mixing techniques and ways to approach found sound creatively through experimentation and improvisation.
The course is designed to be accessible whether you’re a musician, producer, sound artist, filmmaker, content creator, or simply curious about sound.
By the end, you’ll have created your own short piece of music from recordings you made yourself — and, hopefully, started hearing the world around you in a completely different way.
No expensive studio required. Just your ears, your phone and a willingness to listen.
