Reason expert Paul Ortiz brings you the beginner’s guide to using Reason to make your first song! Paul starts with a blank Reason session and walks you through the entire process of creating and arranging your first song, along with basic mixing and mastering practices.


Paul begins by welcoming you and then jumps right in, revealing Reason’s Block system for recording and arranging, and sketches out a basic drum part.

Next, you’ll see how to add synth parts and automate them to further shape their sound over time, for a more interesting performance. Paul then shows you how to create additional song Blocks, as well as some basic patch design and additional synth layers.

Paul now demonstrates how to tweak the synth sounds, add send effects into the mix, create and use sidechaining, how to setup and record real live instruments, and finally, how to mix your tracks and vocals, and apply a mastering plug-in to the whole mix for a professional sound and overall level!
