Brian Calli Music Illustrated Scales PDF
PDF | 83.10 MB
In Illustrated Modes we saw how to compose and connect the fourteen modes of the major, harmonic minor, and melodic minor scales in a visual and intuitive way. This time we'll take that idea to the extreme to compose using every scale that exists.
Without academic language or sheet music, the book is a journey through unconventional harmonies and a unique way to structure all that information in your head. Although it builds on the idea behind Illustrated Modes, it's a completely standalone book: you don't need to have read the previous one to make the most of it.
What you'll find
•Every scale, not just the modes — The natural leap after Illustrated Modes: I go from the fourteen modes you know to exploring every scale that exists, including the ones almost no one ever teaches.
•Unconventional harmonies — Sounds and combinations that rarely show up if you stay inside the usual scales, presented in a way you can actually understand and use when composing.
•Structuring the information in your head — The heart of the book: a visual way to organize so many scales so that, at a glance, you know what each one does and how to connect them, instead of memorizing scattered lists.
•No sheet music, no academic jargon — Just like the rest of the collection: diagrams, colors and arrows. If you recognize chords and follow the arrows, you'll get everything out of it, on whatever instrument you play.
•Example apps and videos — Like my other books, it includes interactive apps and example videos so you can hear and bring every explanation to life.
I'm a Visual Person.
I realized that many of us need to see information visually. However, there is very little music theory literature that explains complex chord modulations and progressions with shapes, arrows, and colors.
In these books, ways are presented to—literally—see harmony and, on every page, creative and visual composition is encouraged.
This release is dedicated to the eternal memory of our friend Olymoon
