Rather than relying solely on your own musical knowledge you can learn how to use Ableton’s MIDI devices along with a few Max for Live devices to help you generate content and come up with new ideas you may not otherwise have thought up yourself.

Course Overview

Using computers to generate and evolve musical patterns and sequences is often referred to as computer-aided-composition. We will look at ways or working in partnership with the computer, a 2-way collaboration.

► Start small – interactive note patterns
► Modulate Length & Velocity – adding complexity to melody & rhythm
► Interaction between layers by stacking and randomisation
► Drums – interactive MIDI effect racks
► Adding a lead – self automation with M4L devices
► Review of CAC techniques. Using MIDI effect rack zones
► Modulating sequencers
